Welcome to the October 2008 edition of the Buick Banner.
September 5th, Irene and I were off to Queensland for the Buick Nationals.
After leaving Melbourne Airport, we landed at Maroochydore and travelled by shuttle bus to our motel in Caloundra. After settling in, we walked down to the main event Motel to see who was around.
There were Buicks everywhere in the motel car park. Lot’s of new ones and many I knew from Previous encounters. We started walking around the car park looking at the cars and chatting to a few of the Buick Members. From Melbourne were Gene and Michele Canner, Rick Chincarinin, Robert and Lyndal Croxford, Norm and Mickey Bradford, Joe and Dorothy Blitz, David and Aileen Chaffey, Rood and Judith Adler and Len and Frances Wright.
Later Friday evening we all got together in the Main Even Motel for dinner and a chat where I came across a lost Victorian Member form years ago. Eddy and Kris Clark (1937 8/40) who happened to be in Queensland on business, just happened to be driving a long and saw a collection of Buicks at the Pub and went inside to see what was going on. There they were recognized by Rick Chincarini, so they joined us for dinner and spent the evening catching up with members form NSW and WA that they had met at previous National meets.
Saturday morning Irene and I spent some time looking around Caloundra.
After lunch we jumped into Rick’s Wildcat Convertible, Irene in front me in back oand off to the Ginger Factory, quite windy with the top down. After looking around for a few hours it was back to our Motel before we had to catch the Bus for the dinner at the Caloundra RSL.
Sunday evening was the Awards Dinner, which turned out to be a great night.
Monday we went down to the Main Event Motel for breakfast and to see the members off.
NOW I’M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 2010 NATIONALS.
Barry Pitman.
