1923 Buick 4 Cylinder Tourer (23 - 4 - 35)

I have been a teacher for 33 years, and, as I'm nearing retirement (and have always had the ambition to restore either a veteran or vintage motor vehicle), the opportunity arose for me to be able to acquire a 1923, 4 cylinder, touring Buick.

The poor old thing had been sitting out in a paddock near Swan Hill for about 30 years, so it is in a rather advanced state of deterioration. Never-the-less, all of the running parts are more or less complete, however the body will require a lot of rebuilding. As you can see from the photo's, restoration is well under way.

The car was originally purchased from Lane's Motors Pty Ltd, 103 - 105 Exhibition Street, Melbourne. I have contacted Lane's Motors and was disappointed that all of the old records have been destroyed, so therefore was unable to get any information on the car's Stock Number:- F953

The car is shown at the upholster where it is currently being trimmed with black leather and black carpet.

The purists will probably cringe with Marg's and my decision to go yellow, but we wanted something a bit brighter and cheerful. Plus we feel confident that it will look good with the black interior, guards, valance, etc., with the added touch of chrome trimmings (headlight/parking light bands, windscreen frame, radiator surround, instrument bezels, etc.)
